Van Oord recently started using their first DEMCON (D) USV platform on various survey projects. It concerns an unmanned measuring vessel (USV) with autonomous functionalities. The development took more than 1 year and due to the corona outbreak we had to
certain functions are integrated even faster, such as “Remote Access”. With this functionality, the boat can be launched on-site and autonomously carry out the sailing plan, while a surveyor in the office operates online in real time the survey equipment and survey software on board.
